Hello,
I have looked to verify the UV-5G isn't on the sdupported list and have tried various other Boafeng models including the UV-5X which is a similar model. These radios were purchased a week ago. I looked through the new model requests and did not see the UV-5G in the list.

For what it's worth, this Amazon listing says that the Baofeng UV-5G is compatible with CHIRP.
Support CHIRP, chose “UV-5X (GMRS version) (use Radioddity UV-5G))"
Have you tried selecting Radioddity UV-5G?
