Description

Support for the Leixen VV898

On 10-19, the Jetstream JT270M was added to the CHIRP support
This radio appears identical to the Leixen VV898 (rebrand).

When I tried a Download from Radio this morning, I received:

  • An error has occurred
  • No response from radio. (cable fine, correct com port)

I have attached the Portmon file from the VV898.

Feel free to contact me for testing.
As always, many thanks...

Further testing tonight - After the gremlins went to sleep.

I am now able to both "Download from Radio" and Upload back to my Leixen VV898 using the Jetstream JT270M selection. This indicates to me that they are in fact the same radio.

What I did notice is that there is no option for DUPLEX to be set to OFF.
This can be handled by setting DUPLEX to + and setting the frequency to 500.000
This causes the transmitter to go out of range and display "Error" on the LCD when the PTT is pressed as it should.

I feel Leixen VV898 can be added to the support list by using the Jetstream JT270M CHIRP software module.

Again, contact me direct for assistance and testing.

John, what did you do to make the communication work? I'm running on the Linux version with the daily build of chirp and having the cannot enter into programming mode error. If you want to shoot me an email, the email in my profile is up to date and feel free to message me there if you want to go offline. Any help would be appreciated. I really rather get this working on my Linux box instead of having to buy a purchased version of programming software for Windows. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. Would really like to see if we can get this fixed for the latest edition of the VV-898.
