Description

I am using Chirp ver. 0.4.1 with a UV-5R (branded by Etekcity). Chirp reads the radio data fine, but if I try to upload even the same data that it just read, I get the error--- Unsupported firmware version 'BTS311 BFT297'

Rick,

Please do not use the stable version of CHIRP with a UV-5R or variant. It won't help you with this, but it will keep you out of trouble in other areas.

I wish all of these different Baofeng dealers wouldn't all have their own custom firmware versions.

Rick,

Please test this for me by doing the following.

Save the uv5r.py file to somewhere convenient.
Select "Help" in the menu bar
Enable "Enable Developer Functions"
Select "File" -> "Load Module" and load the "uv5r.py" file that was saved in the 1st step

Try it and let me know how it goes.
