Chirp Version is 0.4.1 Baofeng BF-F8+ UV-5R 2nd Generation Unit. Windows Vista 32 software. Clone process does not download offset 0.6000 to unit. Menu 26 on unit always shows 000.000 reading instead of correct offset.

Hi Ed,

The UV-5R and is many variants do not use shifts or offsets to define its memory channels. Only the RX frequency and TX frequency are used. Because of this, menu 25 (SFT-D) and menu 26 (OFFSET) only have a purpose in VFO mode. CHIRP lets you use the Duplex and Offset settings to define the channel, but CHIRP then converts these values in the background to the RX frequency and TX frequency because that is what the radio uses. When the TX frequency differs from the RX frequency, the radio's upper status display indicates "+-" (repeater, odd-split, cross-band and TX inhibited). This is not a problem with CHIRP or your radio. This is just how the radio works.
