I read the instructions above:
Description
Making changes tot he squelch threshold settings have no affect on operation of the squelch. You can test this by setting many levels to zero and notice the squelch does not open. This has been noticed by more than one person. either investigate and fix, or please delete this option.

I spent some time working with Baofeng Tech support this evening to investigate this. The problem is actually that the settings currently provided for the VHF squelch settings are actually the 220 squelch settings. The UHF settings should work fine. The VHF settings are missing.
