What is it?
CHIRP is a cross-platform, cross-radio programming tool. It works on Windows and Linux (and soon, MacOSX). It can program all of the ICOM D-STAR (or D-STAR-capable) radios and exchange data between them. As from version 0.1.9 CHIRP also supports limited operation with the Icom ID-RP* D-STAR DV and DD repeaters.
Go to the BeginnersGuide for a brief overview of the basic functionality.
Not all of the features of every radio are supported at the moment (actually, not even close), but there's more to come!

CHIRP Data Model
CHIRP has the capability to have its memory contents edited using the inbuilt GUI (graphical user interface) or through manipulation of CSV (comma seperated value) files. This Data Model explains the structure and acceptable values that CHIRP will recognise.
Problems and Feature Requests
The Problems and Feature Request page provides a list of current problems and a list of requested features for future versions of CHIRP.

Notes
- On the handhelds, you need to be in a DV-mode channel or VFO to communicate with CHIRP
- On the IC-92AD, you must have GPS TX MODE set to DISABLED and GPS AUTO TX set to OFF
- Right now, CHIRP only supports a handful of settings for each memory location. More will follow!
