QYT KT-8900D identification fails.

Description

I just purchased a new KT-8900D to replace one that stopped working. When I attempt to read the radio, I get an error message. This happens with both Chirp Next and Chirp Legacy.

The label on the old KT-8900D which I was able to program had the following:
Frequency: 144-148MHz 430-440MHz
CMIT ID: 2018FP3590
SN: 1910152471

The label on the new KT-8900D has the following: Frequency: 136-174MHz 400-480MHz
There is no CMIT ID
Serial Number is 1803161499

I have tried all the QYT radio variants. None of them work.

What I did:
Attach programming cable to Data port
Attempt to read from radio.

Expected behavior: Chirp reads radio and displays data from radio

Actual behavior: Received error message, "Radio Identification Failed" and then the radio shuts down. No data is displayed.

No .img file because I cannot get one.

Your problem is due to you running an old (20240222) version of CHIRP. You should upgrade to the current version and the MCU Version that your radio has will be supported.

Hello,
I meet the same problem.
I see in the debug file that identification returned by the KT-8900D is "KT-890", which is not what expected by Chirp. I imagine it's a bug in the new QYT firmware, but prevents Chirp from working with this TX.
And yes, I have the very last version of Chirp, under Windows 11, which works perfectly otherwise (Quansheng, etc...).

Isn't possible to offer any help unless you provide the debug.log file.
