Description
Chirp, 20120706 20120714 and 20120724, reads perfectly from my Mac, OS 10.7.4. With upload attempts, the dialog box opens, chooses the correct port, but the progress bar never moves. The dialog box immediately disappears and nothing uploads to the radio.

Which model of radio fails to upload? Or is it actually all models as indicated by your report?

Baofung UV-5R and Wouxun KG-UVD1P have the same symptoms on OSX. The same cable, radios, and the same version worked well under Linux.
