Status changed from New to Feedback

Hi Pete,

Looking in the software it doesn't seem like there's way to change the PTT-ID or ANI. The UV-xx original software has a place for both. In CHIRP the PTT-ID for VFO just shows as a list of 1 - 15 and there is no ANI listed under DTMF Encoding Settings.

If I understand you question, here is how it works.

PTT-ID and ANI are roughly equivalent. In the UV-xx models, PTT-ID is a per-channel setting and ANI is a global setting. These mobile radios just support PTT-ID so the enabling of PTT-ID and selection of which PTT ID signal code to use is a per-channel setting.

Just like the UV-xx radios, enabling PTT-ID and the selection of which PTT-ID signal code to use is done in the "Other" tab of the Memory Properties editor. The Memory Properties menu is accessed by doing either of the following...

Method 1
1 Click the memory row you want to edit to highlight it
2 Click the [Properties] button at the top of the spreadsheet style memory editor

Method 2
1 Right-click a memory row you want to edit
2 Select "Properties" in the menu that appears

In the "Other" tab of the Memory Properties editor you enable PTT-ID with the "PTT-ID:" selection and choose the DTMF code to use by selecting it with the "PTT ID signal code:" selection.

Also, is there a way to sync up A and B on the screen in VFO and MR mode?

No. Not automatically. Only the BTECH labeled models of these mobile radio variants sold by Baofeng Tech (the radio dealer in the USA) have a SYNC feature to keep the A and B display lines automatically in sync. With other radio brands the use must manually sync the channels as required.

Thanks Jim! I was looking around and wondering if there was a way to setup my ANI for use with APRS like this: http://aprs.org/ani.html or so that when I sent my PTT code or ANI it would be my call sign with the encoding mentioned on their site. The PTT ID setting seems to be a list of 1 through 15, does that then reference the DTMF Codes 1-15 on the radio?

Status changed from Feedback to Closed

Solution suggested. - As for follow-up questions, it might be better if you asked them on the "mailing list":http://intrepid.danplanet.com/mailman/listinfo/chirp_users; you might get much more active response there.
