Hi,
Radio: Baojie BJ-218
Issue: Mangled Data.
You read in a file and write back from the original BaoJie Software (i.e. http://www.qzbaojie.com/forum/filesystemdownload?token=76c2eKc%2Fdi0lkIJviYHIZO0ph%2FOW9TxgGafKQTmVhXdkzcfhOZM3DjNhzfk ).
All is fine even after radio power down and reset. This eliminates possible flash memory issues in radio.
Read data back from CHIRP and receive some "mangling" of data and blanks reported.
I am using a serial cable driven by a reasonable FTDI chip

Still have this issue on 2021 01 00 (CHIRP daily-R20210100)
Text is mangled, channels missing, SETTINGS empty (but Browser still shows all offsets&their datas needed)

The suggested patch ("Patch for issue 8363":http://intrepid.danplanet.com/pipermail/chirp_devel/2020-November/006124.html) mentioned above appears not to have been applied.
Fix and style changes being mixed into the same patch.
It looks like adding delay between reads was not used because timing already set for the general case. Might be okay for testing on specific machines but not in general.
The style issues appear to have been applied in Issue #8617 .
Hopefully someone can help.
What is in the debug log?

I am unable to duplicate the problem with my radio.
100ms delay patch was rescinded at Dan Smiths' request.
We need a copy of the debug log, and if possible a USB data capture.
