Description

Latest build (usually) cannot open an image file. When attempting to open a previously-saved image file, the open dialog hangs up the process, and the whole computer with it! The only way I've found to regain control of my computer is to force power-off. Windows 10 Home version 2004, build 19041.985. Chirp version is 2021-05-20. Problem temporarily resolved by reverting to the previously-installed version.

Download the ZIP version for Windows. Extract it to some place convenient. Run it by double clicking the chirpw.exe file.

Does this work? If yes, download the EXE installer file again. Right click the installer file and choose "Run as administrator" to install it.

Using 2021-06-18 version of ZIP file, file open did NOT work. Application locked up with "Open (Not Responding)" in the title bar of the file selection dialog. Other apps on the computer (browser, for instance) are still working normally. I will let this file selection dialog sit there for a while to see if it recovers.
