CHIRP

Software 20230404: initial download and failed to down/upload.
Software updated to 20230409: problem remains.
Initially I plugged the PC03 FTDI cable in the Win-10 computer and the BTECH UV-5X3, ran CHIRP and downloaded an initial image file.
I left the system connected while I modified a BackUp copy of the image. I noticed the red light flashing on the radio and realized the radio's battery was being depleted.

Enable Automatic Edits was enabled by default in CHIRP so I figured data was being transferred automatically even with lower case in the Name field of the file I was modifying.

I figured I would be uploading soon so left it going. When uploading, I noticed that BTECH and UV-5X3 were grayed out but still selected. The upload failed "Error reading data from radio: not the amount of data we want." Made all the lowercase uppercase. Still failing.

I have reset the radio's ALL and VFO.

I still cannot download or upload image files.

debug.log:
Radio set to show WELCOME at power on. Radio set to quiet simplex freq (146.45-MHz).
Chirp started with PC03 cable plugged in computer not in radio (green light on cable).
Download radio: USB COM3, BTECH, UV-5X3 selected.
Cable plugged in radio, radio turned on all the way.
Red light on radio flashed dimly and radio rebooted, all LED segments were displayed, then showed WELCOME.
Cancel all.
Download initiated second time, turned radio off, unplugged radio, plugged radio in, turned radio on all the way, hit OK, same result.

Cancel all.

Opened initial download, Upload to radio.
Turned radio off, unplugged cable from radio, plugged cable in radio, turned radio on all the way. OK, transfer failed.
Re-initiated transfer without unplugging or turning radio off, same result.

Download from radio: BTECH and UV-5X3 dark.
Upload to radio: BTECH and UV-5X3 are grayed out.
