Hello,

I'm as new to all this as is possible, so apologies if I'm making a really novice error.

I recently bought my sons 4 Baofeng BF 888S walkie talkies. They work fine with one another. A friend of ours subsequently got her son 2 of the same make and model, but his don't communicate with ours.

I hence thought I could use CHIRP to re-program one set to match the other.

I thus bought a cable (from AliExpress, which may be the issue), but whenever I try to "Download from radio" within CHIRP, I get the error message, "Error communicating with radio. No response from radio." It won't work with any of the 6 walkie talkies.

When I unplug the cable to change the USB port, though, the PC recognises that I have done so, so that can't be the issue.

I also installed the software that came on the CD, but that didn't work either (same issue). I tried to get OEM drivers online, but that likewise didn't work.

As mentioned, I suspect the cable might be faulty (in the absence of any other ideas), but I have no way of checking and don't know if I'm jumping to conclusions.

Any and all help would be appreciated.
