Description

When I tried to import a VX5 file into Build 20130129 I received a "Unknown file type" response.

I think you've uncovered two issues here:

Chirp has never supported any upper case file extensions. Like proper file systems, Chirp is case sensitive. However, this can be changed to accommodate upper case file extensions.

The @.VX5@ file you uploaded cannot be read by Chirp, even with a lower case file name. It's a totally unknown format. Chirp has been tested with EVE @.eve@ files and VX5 Commander @.vx5@ files. What program is this @.VX5@ file from?

The .VX5 file is from RT Systems.

Unfortunately, Chirp does not support files from RT Systems. We would need a file format specification provided by them, which I think is unlikely.

Your best option is to use RT Systems software to upload the .VX5 file to your VX5, then download with Chirp.

"Unknown file type" is an accurate error message when trying to load .VX5 files from RT Systems. Chirp doesn't support them.
