it would be nice to have a note field for each channel so that I can add comments (not displayed on radio) on what that channel does or is for.

The fields available in the Anytone img tab in Chirp are read directly from the radio. This radio does not store a comment field, so Chirp has no comment field to display for this radio. We cannot dictate the capabilities of the radio.
Chirp has a feature for storing comments, however. It must be used with CSV format. Choose File > New to create a CSV. Now save all your memories, with comments, in this format. You will be able to copy/paste or import/export from this format to your Anytone img. Save your CSV in Chirp's stock_configs folder and now your master frequency plan will be listed under File > Open stock config.
