Description

Hi

I have radio Vertex VXA-700 (hardware 1.06)

The last chirp legacy (chirp-legacy-20221217-win32) is able to download memory entries (some rows are missing), but when I've tried to upload, it reports error:
"Failed to communicate with the radio: global name '_debug' is not defined"

Then I saved the img and I've opened in the latest Chirp Next (chirp-next-20240427) and I've tried to upload to radio, but it also reported error:
"Failed to communicate with radio: argument for 's' must be a bytes object

Then I've tried to download memory entries from radio using Chirp Next (chirp-next-20240427) reported communication error:
"Failed to communicate with radio: ord() expected string of length 1, but int found."

What I did wrong? Please help!

I can fix this up for you. Just curious but have you been successful programming this in the past with CHIRP? I kinda thought this driver was not actually working and needed to be removed/disabled...

It was my first try with this radio (VXA-700).

PS: I've used Chirp with Yaesu VX-7R with success, but this is different animal.

Hi, any chance to fix this issue? VXA-700 is a very neat radio and I want to use it as spare (in case of emergency).
I have a list od ~20 records to download, change and upload, some of them will be changed regular (the amateur ones).

Please :-)
