Any chance of this model being added to the list of supported units.
I was able to communicate with Baofeng BF-9700 using BF-1901, BF-1904 and BF-1909 settings, so, it looks to me that it could be doable.
So far I only downloaded setting from radios but did not try to change anything in CHIRP.
I did change frequencies in one of my BF-9700s using Baofeng's WP970 software in Windows 7.
When I load settings from the radio that still has original factory settings, CHIRP displays everything correctly.
When I load settings from the one that has been modified in WP970, CHIRP does not display frequencies at all and the first column that usually displays channel numbers is shown in red and with question marks instead of numbers.
Attached are six .img files and six debug logs that cover all cases. Files are named accordingly.
Note to developers. Although I'm not a programmer, I do poke around the code now and then. If you want me to conduct any tests with these radios, please let me know. I'll keep one of my BF-9700 in its original state for such case.
Also, when I looked at my Baofeng UV-9R Plus settings in CHIRP, I did activate developer mode and I saw that you are using the driver that has 'wp970i' in its name. Note that the original Baofeng's software for UV-9R Plus is called WP970i, but their software for the BF-9700 is called WP970. Similarity is obvious..
Cheers,
