Description

I have a Wouxun KG-UVD1P radio that does not work with Chirp. When trying to read channels, the radio reboots and the Chirp gives an error "Failed to communicate with radio: Unable to identify radio".
At the same time, the radio works normally with the program downloaded from the manufacturer's website (UVD1P_V03.rar https://wouxun.com/download.aspx?flid=1104).
On the back of the radio there is an inscription "international version", apparently the firmware is slightly different, but the receiver is exactly the same as the regular version.

I dont know anything about this radio, but I have some experience various their color display models, and have encountered similar situations in the past.
For example, the Domestic (China) version of the UV8E is actually a dual band, and can be programmed with the UV8D-Plus driver in chirp.
Each of their radios also have sub-versions with slightly different specifications, mostly bands its finals and firmware are set for.

it is not software compatible with the triband radio they also also named UV8E that looks exactly the same to the international markets.
I only figured out to use the UV8D-Plus simply by trying different drivers on the list.
If you havent done so already, it might worth a try with the kv6,945g, 818 , or 816 drivers, maybe you'll get lucky.
Alternative is to find someone with the same radio to work on a new driver.

Are you sure you're selecting the right port? Your log looks to me like the radio isn't responding at all, and not that it's sending a different ident string or something.
