I read the instructions above:
Description
I have k5_v2.01.19_mod_AM_18to850mhz.bin modded firmware installed (from https://github.com/Tunas1337/UV-K5-Modded-Firmwares) and directly entered out of normal band AM frequencies (200-400 MHz) to radio memory for testing. These scan and are received in AM mode.
CPS software is no use with AM modded firmware installed, as it overwrites all AM frequencies to FM (barring 108-136MHz of course).
CHIRP driver version 20230605 reads and writes ok.
- Read: existing contents that are not edited remain in AM mode when rewritten
- Write: if existing data is edited, eg like adding a channel tag, these memory channels revert to FM when written back to radio
Thank you keep up the good work :-)

Please use the newest chirp-next version, which has a supported UV-K5 driver. Also if you want to try the modded firmware, get one based on the newest version (2.01.26).
Steps:
- read from the radio, save the image file
- edit something, write to the radio
- read from the radio, save the image file
- see if the bug still persists
- write if the bug is still present, if yes then post both image files
