I read the instructions above:

Description

Hello, it is not clear to me how to properly exit the live mode tab for these radios without CHIRP holding the COM port open - whether I click the X to close the tab or choose File... Close, when I try "Download from radio" again to connect to the radio I get an error dialog titled "Error communicating with radio" containing "could not open port 'COM12': PermissionError(13, 'Access is denied.', None, 5)" - I must close and re-launch CHIRP at this point to reconnect to the radio.

In CHIRP legacy-20221217 closing the tab for the radio seems to properly close the COM port as I can immediately go back to Download and re-open the radio.

Thanks, I dunno how this slipped for so long. On Linux and Macos there's no problem re-opening the serial port like there is on Windows, but apparently nobody noticed.
