closedInclude Quansheng UV-K6 with UV-K5

Description
I can confirm that the Quansheng UV-K6 is compatible with both CHIRP for UV-K5, and additionally, firmware, both factory and third party is compatible across all similar models.
I understand from third party firmware developers that there may be one byte which is set to distinguish between the various model numbers.

I will try to ask the vendor if they confirm that the radios are the same

Thanks Jacek.
It would probably be best to register them as separate radios with a check that the right one was selected, if it's possible to determine that during the clone operation. Unless they are literally identical, I imagine they will diverge over time, especially with the divergence we already see with the aftermarket firmware.

Expect more of these radios. Sooner or later there will be as much of them as Baofeng clones (with all of the compatibilities/incompatibilities which you know too well).
From the reverse engineering efforts we know that there are 3 firmware strains (2.x , 3.x and 4.x firmware) with 4 associated bootloaders (2.x, 3.x, 4.x and a bootloader that reports just version "2."), and that the chirp driver works with all of them so far. If there will be any incompatibilities, i think i will base it on the firmware version read from the radio and not on the name. So i think having alternate support in the driver is not needed.
But this may change in the future.
