Bug #10921
closedERROR: Failed to load memory 1 as error because: 'bool' object is not subscriptable
0%
Description
This error happened when I went to download from my radio using CHIRP for the first time. This is a new radio, and it has never been programmed before so the error could be a fault in the radio. This being said, I have successfully flashed the memory using a Baofeng type cable with the CH340 drivers. The expected outcome would have been the preloaded channel data from the radio, but all that was downloaded was errors. When I download from my Quansheng UV K5(8) is get a 'bool' object is not subscriptable error for every memory channel. The error shows the 'bool' object is not subscriptable text next to each memory channel and does not let me see any settings.

Thanks, the reason this error message is so unhelpful is because of a bug in the driver, which I will fix ASAP. However, the root problem is that the driver isn't determining the firmware version of the radio, which I'm guessing might be a recent development if a new firmware has changed some behavior. We'll need the original author to have a look at that.

It looks like you're trying to connect to the radio in firmware flash mode (PTT + turn on radio, the white led is ON).
Please connect like you would with the normal vendor software: turn on radio, change to a quiet channel, connect the cable, download from the radio using chirp.

Thank you Jacek for the support, and sincere apologies for making you solve a non-issue! It turns out you are correct, and i was misunderstanding the instructions that popped up for the Quansheng radio. I did a normal start up, and it worked exactly as expected and downloaded the img correctly. This "issue" can be closed.
Thank you,
Travis
