Description

I am trying to adjust the settings in the tab. I get the Error "NoneType" object is Iterable. I have included a bug report and radio image.

Did you happen to buy this device from a temu promo, with the device labeled Baofeng RT5R? I opened up your image in HxD and it looks almost identical to mine, in which I also get the same error and I cannot access the Settings Menu to edit the VHF/UHF squelch levels. I've tried all kinds of tricks I've found online, including hex editing and nothing has worked so far

I'm attaching my day1 backup image if anyone wants to take a look at it

Tony's radio has a blank Aux memory area. CHIRP doesn't know what to do with the invalid values in settings that stored in this area. Fix your radio by following the procedure in issue #11003.

Jim's radio is missing values for the band limits. CHIRP doesn't know what to do with the invalid values. Fix your radio by uploading the attached image (your image with band limits set to stock values).

Thank you very much for your help, that fixed it and now the menu is fully accessible

I assume not to create a separate issue as mine is pretty much (if not exactly) the same :)
'NoneType' object is not iterable on RT5R (UV-5R).

I've tried to fix myself based on img files from this thread, editing data in HxD between offset 1840 and 1940 but with no luck.
Attaching my img asking for help.

If this is actually an actual 'original' image, then Baofeng must be shipping these radios with a blank Aux memory area because this one is empty except for the Power-On Message and Firmware version.

Before I attach a "fixed" image, I would like you to look at the backups that CHIRP creates just to make sure the Aux memory area was never populated. To find the backups folder do the following...

  1. Type %appdata% into the Windows search box in the task bar.
  2. Click the "%appdata%" File Folder icon that appears
  3. Double-click the CHIRP folder
  4. Double-click the backups folder

Now that the backups folder is selected in the Windows File Explorer, scroll through the folder to see if you can find the oldest CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) file from your radio. Look at it with HxD to see if it's Aux memory area (0x1800-0x193F) is blank like the 'original' file you provided or if it is actually populated with data and report back. If the backup file has data, attach it here.

I opened the oldest file in backup dir but it's already a modified one, I can tell by the welcome message, which is changed. And the AUX memory area is blank here as well.

I know for sure, that first time I downloaded img via chirp it was working fine, I modified only welcome message, then upload it. Next day I connected and it was not working. I factory reset the radio but nothing changed.

OK. I needed to check. Since your radio appears to have always had a blank Aux memory area, you might as well just go ahead and use the 'fixed' image and instructions from note-2 above.

Ok, thanks for help, it worked. Last quick question, radio i blocked with freq 144-146 and 430-440 but the img states it should be 136-174 and 400-520. Where does this discrepancy come from?

I managed to unlock it, using buttons sequence.
2 left black buttons (ptt and flash) + front orange (vfo/mr) and turn on radio, it will display 'FACTORY' and unlock full frequency range.
