Description

For a brand new Baofeng UV-B5, using Chirp build daily-20131121 for Windows 7 64 bit. When attempting to read from radio, I get an "Unexpected Response" error pop-up.

I am able to read from the radio using the native Baofeng software. No changes have been made to the configuration - this is a straight-from-the-factory configuration.

If relevant, I am using an FTDI based USB programming cable.

Can you try with latest daily and post debug.log here?

No change - same error.

  • File uvb5.py added

Hi Dean,
I have attached a test version of the module (driver) for this issue.

Load this into chirp:

  1. open chirp
  2. click Help, check "Enable Developer Functions"
  3. click File, Load Module, and load this uvb5.py

Please update us here on whether or not this fixes this issue..

Thank you for the update. It did not appear to fix the issue.

I am attaching 2 debug logs - the first (labeled debug - copy.log) is from when I followed your instructions and then tried to read the radio. The second (labeled debug.log) is from when I then closed Chirp and re-opened it and tried again (in case that was required to read the activate uvb5.py)

I appreciate the attempts at a quick resolution.

Thank you.

I can confirm that with the latest uvb5.py I was able to read the from the radio.

I'll send out another update, if desired, when I set all the settings and attempt to write to the radio.
