Description

How do you interface the Powerwerx DB-750 with CHIRP? I'm running MacOS 10.10 and am able to program my BaoFeng UV5 so I know that CHIRP is working.

The DB-750X came with a RTI PW1 cable. The Mac recognizes the cable as a USB device when I do a system report, but there don't seem to be drivers for it. RTI says they don't support the Mac, but offered RTSystemUSBSerialDrivers.pkg.mpkg. I installed it, but device doesn't show up in CHIRP so I can't connect. The cable and radio connect to the RTI application on a PC so I know cable and radio are working.

I'm using chirp-daily-2016-0412.

Since you say that the DB-750 is supported, there must be a way to connect. I've also tried the KK7DS_Python_Runtime_R10 and PL2303_MacOSX_1.6.2_20160309.pkg

If this isn't the correct spot to ask for help, I apologize.

  • Status changed from New to Feedback
  • Target version set to chirp-legacy
  • Chirp Version changed from 0.4.0 to daily
  • Model affected changed from (All models) to PowerWerx DB-750X
  • Platform changed from Windows to MacOS

Have you been able to resolve this on your own since you submitted this?
Cables on the Mac seem to be a finicky thing to deal with (I'm not using Macs, but I saw many posts about it). Please refer to these Wiki articles:

I got an email from Bob, he says:

Thanks for update to my request from 4 years ago.
I was never able to make things work until RTSystems released their Mac support of the Powerwerks DB750.
The RTsystems app seems to work pretty well.
I’m not that familiar with the CHIRP website and how to make comments, so I’m emailing you directly.
Best regards,
Bob Levy W7CMB
I'll close this ticket.
