Description
The error message "Radio identification failed" appears when attempting to read from radio. The cable used, supplied with the radio, works successfully with the programming software supplied "UV2BAND_E_CPS.exe". After the error message appears, the radio beeps and resets. This occurs on two different radios.

Hi Dennis,
All the clues points that you have a unknown (to us) variant of this radios, it has a different ID from what we already have detected, we need a serial capture to process it.
You can find how to do that here: http://chirp.danplanet.com/attachments/2257/how%20to%20portmon.doc
I need that captures to make the support for this radio into Chirp, since I don't have the radio at hand.
Clue: it may work selecting it as the QYT KT8900, as this appears to be a clone of it, can you confirm this?

Both radios successfully programs as a QYT KT8900 with WIN7, using two different, 64 bit machines and CHIRP daily-20160504.
They will not program as a QYT KT8900 on an XP Pro, Service Pack 3, machine and CHIRP daily-20160504. The error message is "Invalid header for block0x0000:". If the XP machine is used and the radio is selected as a SainSonic GT890, the "Radio identification failed" error occurs. The same programming cable is used on all computers.
I have no other Windows computers with a 32 bit operating system.
