Bug #4295
openYaesu VX-8DE: unable to program broadcast AM and FM frequencies
0%
Description
After programming TV channel frequencies of the D (Eastern Europe) standard I noticed that I get no sound at 91.75MHz and 99.75MHz which fall on FM broadcast band. Switching the radio to broadcast reception mode (FW + 0/radio keys) gives normal reception.
The radio allows programming AM and FM broadcast frequencies to memory channels.
I started investigating the issue and noticed the following.
FM Broadcast
The memories generated by the radio are different from that generated by Chirp. When using the Browser (after enabling Developer Functions) the difference is seen in the last three bytes of each memory, those marked as unknown.AM Broadcast
Chirp shows error on memory entries generated by the radio and doesn't allow to enter AM broadcast frequencies.
I attached a test memory dump where memories 1-4, 6 were created by the radio and memory 5 was created by Chirp.

Memories 1-4 were saved with different FM Antenna and Stereo settings, but these settings aren't saved into memory channel.

- Status changed from New to Feedback
- Target version set to chirp-legacy
- Platform changed from Windows to All
A short while ago, this driver was modified to support a few more modes such as narrowband FM. This might have also improved the environment which caused your problem (but maybe it hasn't).
Have you tried with a recent version since you submitted this? If you haven't, and if you're still having this issue, please refer to the Wiki "How To Report Issues" and provide a debug log. Thanks!
