Description
Hello!
I have two Baofeng Bf-F9V2+ radios. One I bought two weeks ago with firmware version BFP3-25, this works just fine with CHIRP. I purchased another two days ago and it came with firmware BFP3-23, and CHIRP does not recognize this radio. I get the error message not a valid radio. For both radios I choose the Baofeng BF-F8HP.
Is there a fix coming, or do I need to give up and send the second radio with the earlier firmware back?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I can not find an email anywhere on CHIRP website to ask this question.
Please advise.
Thank-you!

I have PFP3-25 and it doesn't recognize my radio either.
Neither Baofeng nor Cirp cares about Baofeng BF-F9V2+ customers ofwich I am one.
If you buy this particuar radio you are just screwed so don't buy it. I regret buying mine...

- Status changed from New to Feedback
First of all, Chirp isn't affiliated with any radio maker, it's not the product of any company, it is maintained entirely by volunteers.
Having said that:
- If you can't upload any image from one radio to another of the same type due to a firmware difference, then Chirp does that on purpose. The radio with different firmware might use a different memory layout, and the image could corrupt it.
- If the firmware isn't recognized at all, then a developer needs to look into it. For that, a debug log would be helpful.
- Finally, please try again with a recent version. A lot of work has been done on Baofeng drivers to mitigate issues such as the ones you're describing. Let us know what you find.
