Description
I bought this UV-5S radio as it looked sturdier than the normal UV-5R. It appears to be a rebadged GT-3WP (136-174/400-520), tri power (5W max) and has the R-Tone option at menu position 41. It programs fine (or at least seems to) with the GT-3WP settings in Chirp.
Power+3 tells me "Ver / NT5101" and Power+6 "170725N / WP970I"
The Firmware settings after downloading into Chirp are both blank, which makes me think there may be slight differences between the UV-5S and a GT-3WP.
I hope this helps. At least you can list it as a variant of the GT-3WP.
