Description

Currently using CHIRP daily-20180210.

Would like to be able to modify the Freq., MODE, Tag, Station Name (being able to delete/blank an entire Channel entry would be great as well) for pre-programmed Short-Wave & VHF Marine Channels on Yaesu VX-6.

Not sure if this request would fall under the existing Issue #1289.

  • Status changed from New to Feedback
  • Target version set to chirp-legacy
  • Model affected changed from (All models) to Yaesu VX-6

Have you been able to resolve this on your own since you submitted this?
I'm not sure what your're asking? This is precisely what Chirp is made for :-)
The VX-6 is supported.

Yes, the VX-6 is supported quite extensively by CHIRP, but perhaps not completely. I am looking to modify the default / included-from-the-factory frequency tables for the Broadcast Station Frequency List (see page 43 of the Operating Manual) and the VHF Marine Channel Frequency List (see page 45 of the Operating Manual).

To put it another way, I would like to re-use the existing entries, instead of dropping entries into the Standard Memory Channels (see page 33 of the Operating Manual for an illustration of the distinction).

I don't rule out that I missed something built in to do so. That radio has too much packed into it, making it difficult to program. Indeed, CHIRP does make it a lot easier.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Hi Mike, I've reviewed the manual, and I understand what you're asking. The VX-6 has a special bank with AM broadcast stations in it, and another with Marine channels. Nice! Your feature request asks for retrieving, altering, and re-storing these 89 channels in the Broadcast Station Memory Bank. However, I'm not sure whether the radio lets you do that? The manual doesn't suggest so, I think - neither with marine channels. Can you change any of these channels directly in the radio?

Hi Bernhard,

As far as I can tell, there is no feature in the radio that will allow me to do what I am asking. I was hoping there was something you CHIRP Magicians could do.

Stay Safe and Be Well.
