I read the instructions above:
Description
Downloaded the config from a Baufeng UV-5R. Copied the memories from a different file. When attempting to paste into the downloaded file, Chirp aborts with "unfortunately Chirp has stopped working".
OS: Windows 7
Chirp version: 20190112 daily build
Same problem with a couple other UV-5R Baofengs.
However, pasting into a downloaded file from a BF-F8HP worked just fine.

Instead copy and paste, try to import from a CSV file.
This file must be formatted correctly in order to work, see CSV HowTo.
You can also import an image file from another radio (pushing the image directly into the radio will fail).
"Import" can be found in the File menu.
