Description

Everything was fine with Baofeng UV-10R, until I changed VHF Lower limit under 100 MHz. Chirp hang at 70% progress bar when trying upload this setting to radio, and radio rebooted. Any other settings uploading correctly.

Now I tried any VHF Lower limit setting in Chirp, but it hang at upload always (I can only kill Chirp process). Download from radio is OK, but VHF Lower limit always downloaded as 100MHz. And my radio have VHF Lower limit at 100MHz now, that can not be changed any way (I tried to reset radio in menu, no luck).

Also, info of channels after 70 uploaded not completely: no Name field, but all other fields presents in radio.

The channel data and the channel names are stored separately. First the channel data is uploaded, then the main memory global settings which are then followed by the channel names.

Since the image file that is being uploaded to the radio when the problem is triggered was not included, I can only guess that the something in channel name memory area following the channel 69 name "LPD 69" (which would be around 70%) is triggering the radio to ungracefully abort cloning and causing CHIRP to hang.

Would you attach the "image" file that you are attempting to upload so that this area of memory can be examined?

Attached previously Image Baofeng_UV-5R_20210511.img was downloaded from radio, and trigger a problem when uploaded back.
I made several attempts, and Chirp hungs at different progress bar positions, somewhere between 60%-95%. So I not sure that problem in Name strucuture.

But, now I installed old version chirp-daily-20201221, and it uploaded full image to radio correctly, and VHF limit returned to manageable state. Also, I can upload attached before .img without any problem. Everything work fine now with old version.

Now switch back to the latest CHIRP and see if it still works for returns dumping out of the upload.

There haven't been any changes to the "upload" code since about 2016. And the band limit values would have no effect on the uploading process.

I switched back to the latest Chirp, and it can't upload again. I attached .img downloaded from fresh reseted radio. When uploading .img back to radio it hangs at about 50%.
