The UV-5R driver would not have worked on this model. The BF-888 driver might.
However, you also might have an issue with your programming cable.

Hi Bernhard, thank you for your feedback I Verified, that my cable is working fine and that uv-5r and bf-888 drivers are not working.
Meanwhile I found a Software "Wp970" which was able to program the BF-A68 with my cable.
I attached it.
But would be nice to have it supported in CHIRP.
