You should check issue #9939. That is where much development has been occurring recently.

Hi,
As Jim suggested you can look at issue 9939,

With that, can you please elaborate on which setting you are having trouble with?

Thanks,
Ran

I want to limit the frequency range from 144 to 146, but setting is not possible.

This usually happens when one or more settings in the radio are out-of-range. Please attach your CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) that causes CHIRP to not display the Settings tabs so a developer can investigate.

Hi,
Can can you try again with the latest chirp version? if you still don't see anything in the settings tab please upload a radio image file as Jim suggested.

Currently , band limiting the TG-UV2+ is not supported by the chirp driver. (As far as I know this is possible only via the radio itself using specific keys pressed during power on.)

Jim Unroe: Is there an "official" CHIRP guideline about such features

Ran

The only "official" document related to a radio's features is the "overview of supported features":https://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/LATEST/Model_Support.html which is automatically generated with each new build. It however is limited pretty much to the standard list of "radio features" that you would see declared in def get_features(self):.

A volunteer CHIRP developer can support as menu or as few features as (s)he decide to support. Some developers are content with providing support for cloning and the basic per-channel settings. I have had a few provide this support and then hand the reigns over to me in order to flesh out the global settings.

The UV-5R allow adjusting the radio's VHF and UHF band limits. However that only adjusts the range of frequencies that a user can enter into the radio's VFOs. Setting the low VHF band limit to 144 and high VHF band limit to 145 (the radio always includes an additional 0.9975 to the upper limit) will limit the VFO to only accepting frequencies in the 144.0000-145.9975 MHz range. This would prevent the radio user from programming any frequencies outside of the VHF ham band. However this would not prevent the CHIRP user from programming RX/TX or RX only channels outside of the 2 meter ham band.

Although the driver could support it, the btech.py driver does not support this capability even though the radio could support this functionality. The radio vendor/dealer requested that this capability not be supported. When a vendor/dealer/manufacturer donates a radio to the cause, I will usually comply with their requests. So in this case, I just display the band limits so the CHIRP programmer can see what they are. There is no provision for editing them.

HI Jim,
Thanks for the thorough response,
I'll try to solve the empty settings issue first, and then think about the band restrictions, maybe in its own settings group?
