Description

CHIRP seems to be saving the frequency of a simplex channel to only the RX memory on the UV-5R, even id duplex is set to (none). The reult of this is that unless the channel is programmed on the radio or on the Baofeng software, the channel can not transmit. In chirp, after setting to duplex to (none), pressing refresh will revert this back to off (as there is no TX value set).

It sounds to me like you are using the GT-5R or UV-5G model selection.

The GT-5R model selection will only transmit on frequencies that are within the 144-148 MHz and 420-450 MHz ranges of the USA 2 meter and 70 centimeter ham bands. All other frequencies are TX disabled.

The UV-5G (previously known as UV-5X) model selection will only on transmit on the 30 designated GMRS frequencies. All other frequencies are TX disabled.

However if you use the actual UV-5R model selection, you will have full band access for RX/TX.
