Yes, it's on the list and I have someone volunteering to loan a radio in a few weeks.

I think that lack of requests for the Quansheng support means that it might not rate very high on the list to be incorperated in CHIRP. I know this takes alot of time to do and there must be alot of requests for everyones favorite radio but, there are hundreds if not thousands of different radios out there. I thank you for at least considering to do the quansheng.

  • Chirp Version changed from 0.2.2 to 0.2.3

The loan fell through, so this is blocked until a developer can get access to one.

I have both a TG-UV and TG-UV2 that could be loaned out.

Depending on where it needs to go, I might be able to loan mine out for a few weeks too.

I have a Quansheng TG-UV2 that I would be glad to loan for as long as necessary to help the project.

Hi, seems somebody is able to provide TGUV2 for testing. I hope youll accept and development begins

Actions #9

Updated by Robert Beswick about 10 years ago

I'm not sure how to accept other than through this posting. I really excited that you guys took this on, as I still have the radios and it's difficult manually programming them. Thanks for who ever lent the radio for testing. Robert

It would be really great if the Quansheng TG-UV2 could be incorporated in the CHIRP programming software, because, alas the Chinese versions always seem a bit erratic.

Hi, I've got several of these and would love to see them supported. Please message/email me your shipping address so I can send one along. Do you prefer battery+charger or 12v eliminator?

I'm familiar with python, not with writing drivers for unknown devices. I do have a TG-UV2, hopefully I'll find some time to give it a try. Can anyone point me in the direction on how to find out how to talk to the radio?

Yes, go to Issue #2711 and look in the comments, there's a gentleman who has written a C language routine that can talk to the TG-UV2 and he posted a link to the download:

Requesting programming support for the TG-UV2. My dad has one that he's willing to lend, if you need it.

There are some pointers in the duplicate ticket #2311, which might be of interest.

I opened a new ticket for TG UV 2 plus but changed from new model to feedback , is anyone have tg uv2 plus , what can i do to help someone implement it to chirp?

Actions #21

Updated by Kenneth Burton over 2 years ago

I am interested in having CHIRP work for this radio (TG UV2plus)

Actions #22

Updated by m b over 2 years ago

And I too would like to see the TG-UV2 (not Plus) work in Chirp. C'mon man. There are some really obscure brands that work on Chirp.

Actions #23

Updated by Bernhard Hailer over 2 years ago

The addition of a new radio to Chirp requires two things:
1) a volunteer developer who takes the task to work on this driver,
2) availability of test equipment, such as a loaner radio (see Rules For Loaning A Radio).
Unfortunately, you need to wait until both conditions have been met.
Or, you could decide to get your hands dirty yourself - check Wiki, "Developers".
