Description

Hello, I recently purchased a New Baofeng BF-F9 V2 with 3 power levels. 1 watt, 5 watt & 8 watts. I downloaded the most recent Chirp Build bu I cannot get it to recognize my radio. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to wait for a Newer Chirp Build that wouls recognize my *Baofeng BF-F9 V2? I really need to program my radio for the Local Repeaters. If I need a newer Version of Chirp do you know the approxamate release date for the software?

Hi Glenn,

If the "Chirp Version" you selected is correct (0.4.0), then you selected the year old (April 2014) stable build. Support for the Baofeng radios with 3 power levels was added after the stable build was release so it is only available using a daily build. This is shown in the Supported Radios list on the CHIRP Home/Wiki page.

  • BF-F8HP (in daily builds) Also includes the BF-F9V2+ Also includes the GT-3TP Also includes the UV-5R TP

So go to the "CHIRP download page":http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Download and click the "latest daily build":http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/LATEST/ link to get the latest daily build. Once you have installed it and have it loaded, then use Vendor: Baofeng and Model: BF-F8HP to download from your radio.

Hello Jim,
I have downloaded the Newest Version "chirp-daily-20150409-win32" and it still does not recognize. my "BF-F9V2+" radio. It may work with the "BF-F9V2" but not the "BF-F9V2+" radio. Perhaps there is a bug in this version & I have to wait for a Newer Build. Chirp responds with the message "Radio did not respond". I don't know what else to do. Thank you for helping but at the moment I can only key in channels using the Frequency Mode. I will check every coming Daily Builds until I get something that works with this radio.

Glenn,

"Radio did not respond" usually means the connection between the radio and computer is incomplete. It can usually be traced to the 2-pin plug not being fully inserted into the radio or the device driver that was installed by Windows is incompatible with the chip in the programming cable.

The "Miklor":http://www.miklor.com website has info about the "plug":http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_ErrorMess.php#error1 and the "driver":http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.php that may help you.

Hello Jim, the Newest Build Version "chirp-daily-20150411-win32" totally corrected my problem with my "BF-F9V2+HP". It now recognizes the radio and programs it with ease. Thank You very much for your help.
