Description
I have noticed using the Chirp software to program the TYT-9800 Plus model when programming repeaters with ENC DEC for the PL to encode and decode that it seems to only program it in Encode mode, although the radio's display does show ENC DEC for the programmed slot. If I go into VFO mode and manually program ENC DEC pl tone it mutes the audio as should unless set PL tone is detected. Programming from Chirp the audio does not get muted although radio displays it should. Not sure if this is programming issue in Chirp or radio.
Just to add, this same problem occurs even using the TYT-9800 software as well, so it's not just a Chirp issue. Thanks.
I have found the error with the Chirp software on this issue with the TYT 9800. It is missing the option to set SQL mode (Squelch Mode) under channel properties.
I looked more closely at the difference between Chirp and TYT software and found a option in the channel settings that Chirp don't have. SQL mode (Squelch mode) When you set the TONE MODE to ENC DEC you can then select two options in SQL mode of either Carrier or Tone. Selecting tone sets the radio to listen for the set PL tone correctly.

I see there is a field we haven't yet defined in the memory channel - it seems likely this is the sql mode option you mentioned
Side note: I'm not even sure why they have the option to turn of tone squelch if you have set to ENC/DEC; this by definition seems to indicate that you do want tone squelch. Looking at a few memory diffs this option may also be required for DCS to do RX squelch as well.
The approach I will take is to set this field whenever we have ENC/DEC or DCS selected for tone, as that seems to be the intended operation.
A patch should be forthcoming soon.
