Peter,

Nice. I just did a similar patch for the UV-B5/B6. I was going to it for the UV-5R as well but you beat me to it. I wish I would have seen your patch before I submitted mine. Some of you code is a little cleaner than mine.

I was just going to add the frequency setting to the Work Mode Settings. I never thought of adding edits for the FM messages. I don't know what someone would do with them, but hey, they certainly can be edited!

The thing I would suggest that you add is a check to keep the entered frequency in bounds. Maybe force the entered frequency to 65.0 MHz if it is out-of-bounds. If a frequency like 146.52 is entered, the radio takes it but it will display a frequency that is within 65.0 and 108.0 MHz. If the user then changes to a known local frequency using the arrow keys, they will not hear anything (because the radio frequency displayed is not the same as the actual frequency that the radio is tuned to). The user may think FM is broken. Keying the frequency in using the keypad does return the receiver frequency back in sync with the display.

Jim,
Good point about the limits. Revised patch enclosed. Please modify/appl as you see fit.

I did do some testing on my radio earlier, and the broadcast frequency value can go as high as 0x200 (or 116.1MHz). Values > 0x200 cause the display value to be incorrect.
