I was able to download from radio. Connector was not fully inserted. Now when using Chirp, the Download to radio selection is not highlighted/selectable and Alt U does not work.

Unless you provide a debug log per [How_To_Report_Issues] we have no way to help you. Also, upload is disabled for CSV files, but download never is. Please show a screenshot of this with the debug log.

It is the Upload to radio (Alt-U) selection that is not highlighted. This is likely because you don't have a tab open that is compatible with any particular radio model. My guess is that you have a CSV file tab open. You can't directly upload a CSV file to any "clone mode" radio model such as your UV-5R Pro (hence the greyed out Upload selection). You can only Upload a tab that was created by downloaded from your radio (either directly or by loading a saved file that was made by previously downloading from your radio).

You need to have a tab for your radio and your CSV file open at the same time. Then you can copy-and-paste the data from your CSV file tab to the UV-5R tab. Once you are finished transferring the data and have made any other changes, then you can upload the UV-5R tab back into your radio.

Note: It is a good practice to save your first successful download, unedited, to a file to kept in a safe place as a backup. Then save and additional file to be used as your "working" file to edit as desired.
