I read the instructions above:
Description
I'm missing an option in the QYT KT-8R optionsin chirp-next-20230402 and previous versions.
On the QYT KT-8R radio there's a menu (53) item called ANI.
According to the QYT KT-8R manual you can only enter the ANI code using the software.
But since there is no option in the Chirp menus available, I cannot enter or use a ANI code.
There is a ANI Lenght option to set the lenght of the ANI code, but this is of no use if you can't enter a ANI code and save it to the QYT KT-8R.
The original QYT_8R_CPS software does have a option to enter the ANI code. The Defaul code in the original software seems to be 80808 when you start the software.
Can this be fixed in Chirp in any way, because the original 8R software is horrible and not very user friendly?

It could be implemented, but there is really no need. For all practical purposes PTT-ID (which is fully implemented) and ANI provide the same functionality. The main difference being that PTT-ID is configured on per-channel basis and ANI is global. The problem for ANI is that for it to work, it has to be programmed "on top of" and existing PTT-ID. So unless you need to have one code for BOT (beginning for transmission) and a different code for EOT (end of transmission, you might as well just setup PTT-ID with your ID and avoid the extra work to add ANI on top of it. That is certainly what I would do.

Ok, sounds reasonable.
Thank you for this information, and I'll guess we can close this one.
Best regards,
Peter
