Bug #10845
closed`FM broadcast frequency on BTECH FRS-A1
100%
Description
Chirp next 2023-0911 causes FM broadcast feature to fail on the FRS A1. Downloading from radio does not update the FM broadcast frequency in settings. Changing the FM broadcast frequency in CHIRP then uploading to radio makes the FM broadcast FM feature of the radio inoperative. The frequency is set to 70.2. Manually setting the frequency on the radio to a known station results in no reception. The seek function finds no stations. It appears that CHIRP breaks the radio firmware or disables the feature. Resetting the radio restores the FM reception, but of course resets all of the memories and settings. Uploading a new set of settings breaks it again, so resetting the radio is no solution. This makes CHIRP worthless for this radio. The older version of CHIRP did not do this.

Jim.
Thanks for the quick response. You fixed it.
I verified that the FM broadcast frequency is now copied correctly in Download from Radio.
I verified that the FM broadcast frequency is now loaded correctly in upload to radio.
The FM function on the radio now works after upload to radio.
I tried downloading several different files to radios. All were successful.
I updated all 13 of my FRS-A1 radios successfully. I use these for scouts and for teaching radio merit badge.
Thanks again,
