Bug #11614
closedWhen downloading the radio, get error "Radio returned unknown identifier string"

Description
Attempting to download the radio, I get the error "radio returned unknown identifier string". I was using the Talkpod OE programming cable that came with the radio. I am able to use the Talkpod programming software to download the radio with the OE cable. I then purchased a YDC Tech FTDI cable, downloaded and installed drivers from FTDI, and reattempted to connect with Chirp getting the same previous results.
The radio has firmware version 1.26. It is a fresh purchase from Amazon. This is my first radio, and first attempt using Chirp.

Edited as best I can. Most of the changes are for default settings.

Thanks. Looks good.
A firmware update often will add or remove menus, and or remove menu choices, add bands, change band limits, etc so I like to accommodate any changes like that when adding the firmware detection support. If you notice any differences in the future, just open a bug and they can be addressed separately.
I have attached the test module. To use it just follow the instructions here: LoadingTestModules

The test module functioned great. I was able to download, edit, import from repeater book, and write successfully. Thanks very much for your time and help. Let me know if there any more steps that need to be done.
