Description

Trying to connect for the first time. Using Win11, BTECH PC04 Cabe single Plug. FTDI driver shows working in Device Manager. COM3.

Attempted Radio Read

Got error message: Radio did not respond as expected (A)

(Has this ever worked before? New radio? Does it work with OEM software?)
Never connected
UV-25 out of the box
It also fails with T6UV Series EN CPS software with error message: Failure!

Does the radio have to be in a particulare mode? I'm just trying in the power on state.

Thanks!

The radio just needs to be on, not in a special mode.

Your problem is almost certainly related to the cable, and if it uses a K1 type connector (the dual pronged one), be sure that it is firmly connected. 90% of the people with this problem think they have the connector seated, but don't. These are very low-quality and low-tolerance parts and they often don't fit together well. Some people even have to trim the connector to make it fit properly.

The fact that other software does not work either reinforces the idea that it's connectivity related.

Problem solved... probably. Wrong programming cable, needs two-prong Kenwood.

Yes. The Baofeng UV-25 handheld needs the 2-pin PC03 programming cable. It is the BTECH UV-25X2/UV-25X4 style mobile radios that use the 1-pin PC04 programming cable.
