Bug #11698
closedWhile Programming Both Baofeng UV-5R AND BF-F8 HP Channel 1 Freq is Repeated on Each Channel
0%
Description
When I follow the directions for the chirp software on the spreadsheet, I have all of the frequencies and offsets set properly. When I go to upload it to the radio it uploads everything except the frequencies for every channel. All channels end up the same as channel #1, 145.470. Why will the frequencies from the spreadsheet not upload to the radio properly? When I download from the radio, the spreadsheet has the correct freq for each channel, even though the radio itself has repeated freq #1 for each channel.
I have;
- uninstalled and reinstalled Chirp
- followed directions to the letter
- Sent inquiries to others
- Tried everything I know.
When I try to download an .img file it says the disk is corrupted.

Jim,
Per the IssueInstructions you indicated you read, please update this bug with a debug log and the radio image you have opened. Instructions are here: How_To_Report_Issues.
I think when you say "download an .img file" you mean when you double-click on it in windows explorer? Windows won't let you do that because it thinks .img files are disk images and does not know to open them with CHIRP. Use File->Open in CHIRP to open them.
That said, I think your concern about "every channel gets the same frequency" is you misunderstanding the display of the radio. The radio does not display the channel name and frequency separately. The top and bottom are separate. You use the A/B button to select which one you want and by default on many of these types of radios, one shows a name and the other a frequency. This is not something chirp controls - it's how the radio works.
But, if you'll please follow the directions to update this bug with your image and debug log, I can help confirm that the image looks correct.

Jim, You are not understanding how the radio works. These radios have 2 completely independent display lines. The top (A) display line and the bottom (B) display line. When you tap the []/[v] buttons, the selected display line (the one with the triangle to the left) is the one that scrolls. The display line that is not selected will remain on its currently selected channel (channel #1, 145.470 in your case). This will be made more clear if you watch the tiny channel numbers that are shown at the far right of each display line.
Tab the [A/B] button to move the triangle to the other display line and now the newly selected display line will scroll as the arrow keys are tapped.
