Description

I'm unable to change per-channel BCL settings on the BF-888s. The radio seems to behave as if BCL is always "on" for all channels.

Whenever incoming signal is present on the receive frequency, the radio invariably "beeps" its refusal when trying to key up the transmit frequency. This prevents participation on a repeater whose activity level keeps it continuously transmitting, obviously.

Observations:

  1. I see no "BCL" column in the "Memories" tab (should there be one?).

  2. In the "Browser" tab, I do see "bcl" values per channel, but changing them between 0 and 1 has no observable effect.

Please let me know if I can provide more info or try other approaches.

Thanks,
CB

  • Status changed from New to Rejected

Chet,

The BF-888s driver is currently broken. I will not save or upload any of the edited settings.

I am rejecting this issue only because that is another one reporting this issue: #1195

I am currently working on a patch for #1195. I have pretty much everything worked out and I am just waiting for feedback from my tester (I don't have a BF-888s). With any luck, I will submit the changes later today.

To edit BCL you will have to use the right-click editor.

Hi Jim,

That's certainly fair enough (if a bit unfortunate). Thanks for setting me straight with the references, in any case.

To edit BCL you will have to use the right-click editor.

Changing the value there and then editing again shows the value unchanged, unfortunately, so I think I'll just consider the whole driver "out of order" for now and try to use the factory software instead (if I can work out a COM3 issue). I'll certainly follow #1195 keenly for any news, regardless.

Thanks so much for the helpful response, and thanks again for the really great stuff.

Chet,

The whole driver is "out of order". I started working on it yesterday. My tester gave me the green light on my changes so I submitted a patch a few hours ago. Look for these "issues" to be "fixed" when the next daily build is released.

Thanks for your patience,

About BCL in BF-888s last models.
In Chirp "browser" change
to "0" for ON, and
"1" for OFF.

The Memories Editor should do the same thing, right? This issue probably needs to be closed.
