Description

FT8800 setting the scan / Prefer bit is randomly setting bits in Hyper Mems. Hyper mem 2 matches the list as set, the other memories are random. Before and after files have been sent.

So, I didn't get this when you first reported the issue, but now that I'm re-reading it with care, let me confirm:

You're saying that the radio keeps separate skip and pref.skip flags for every memory in each hyper memory? Meaning, HM1 may have one set of skip flags while HM2 might have a different set of skip flags?

Since CHIRP doesn't really know anything about the hyper memories, what is your expected outcome? Setting the scan flags in all the hyper memories to the same thing?

As it turns out yes there are separate bits for each HyperMem. I did not realize this till I tried to set the S/P bit to only scan certain memories and then could not get my radio to scan just those memories. I used my regular program to read the FT-8800 to see if something was not set right and noticed the HM2 bits were set per my settings but some bits in HM1 were also set HM 3-6 bits for the most part were clear.
I am not sure which bits are to be set for just main memory scanning. I do not normally use Hyper memories.

Sorry this got delayed for so long.

Can you help me remember what the images are that you sent me? Is the difference between the "right" and "newright" after you corrected the skip flags in HM1?

I am going to need to reload these images to take a look at them. The problem has to do with the Scan / Pref Bits getting randomly set but I do not remember exactly what the difference between the two files is. One is the before the other is the after. I do remember that each memory has a Skip / Prefer bits for each Hyper-memory. I will try to do this today and get back to you.

Okay, sorry about the delay, but thanks for helping me catch up.

The notion of "randomly setting bits" is hopefully just an illusion. If it's truly happening randomly, then we have a major problem. My expectation is that the bits are already set one way and chirp's editing of only HM2's scan bits makes it appear to be illogical or something like that.

Anyway, if you can figure out what the images you sent are, that would help. Also, if you could send me two images, a before/after of setting a scan bit on a known memory in HM1, that will help me locate where those bits are stored. Maybe one of the image sets you sent before is, that, I just have no way of knowing because I don't have an 8800 to push them into :)
