Description

Hello,

I downloaded CHIRP 0.4.0 and tried to connect to my IC-91A. Upon selecting ICOM, IC-91A/92AD and the right serial port, none of the frequencies are downloaded and all of the "Name" columns contain "ERROR" as seen in the attached screenshot named "Chirp-IC91A-Screenshot.jpg". Using the same USB-to-Serial cable, I was able to download and configure my FT-60R as well as my FT-817ND, which tells me I have the right drivers.

Radio: Icom IC-91A
Cable: OPC1529R (made by Icom)
FTDI USB to Serial: made by Tripplite
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.9.3

Just to be thorough, I tested with 3 versions of CHIRP.

The current release 0.4.0 (build_0.4.0_debug.log)

The latest daily build (build_20140428_debug.log)

Version 0.2.2 (build_0.2.2_debug.log)

I was able to download frequencies and configure the radio with build 0.2.2, but not with the 2 newer releases.

Hi Horacio,
the file in attach should solve the problem, unluckily I don't have an IC9x to test it so I need your assistance.
In the daily package you downloaded please replace the existing ic9x_icf.py in Contents/Resources/chirp/ folder with the one in attach then start chirp and try connecting to your IC91A.

I'll wait for your feedback to include patch in daily build.

Replaced the file, but still the same result.

Attached is the a copy of the debug.log file generated with the ic9x_icf.py file replaced.

I see from debug log you renamed original file to ORIG_ic9x_icf.py, this way python still find and load it.
Please change it to different extension (eg. ORIG_ic9x_icf.py.bak) and try again.

Tnx for collaboration.

Even renaming it to .BAK didn't work. It still got compiled into a .pyc. I had to delete the original file completely, that was able to get it working! I am now able to download and program the IC-91A.

Thank you!!
