anyone thinking of supporting this radio near term ?
some python experience, might be willing to start with yaesu clone if someone could clue me in how to get kickstarted...
is the 8800R close?

What are you asking? 8800R is already supported.
If you want to start on the FT-8000R, do a download using any of the Yaesu drivers. It'll undoubtedly be the wrong length, but will give you something to start with. Save the .img and open it in a hex editor. You should see some patterns that look like frequencies, and it'll repeat 55 times.

no, just as the question as asked (in the message title)... looking for support of the 8000R...
the reference to the 8800R was a query as to whether the 8800R (which if course is supported) code is the place to start?
