I think I'm going to break down and buy this, perhaps today. Willing to loan along with my IC-T81A and perhaps a DJ-G29T I'll probably pick up at a dirt cheap price.

Yup, couldn't resist and dropped money on both radios. Annoying I missed the loan offered flag again, sorry. :(
New info I discovered since posting this: RT Systems has released their software for the ID-51LE and they say it talks ID-5100-ese rather than the regular ID-51--thus, any work already done with the ID-5100 should work towards this radio. Also strongly suspect (and should know shortly) that the OPC-2350LU (still vaporware as of this writing) is just the OPC-2218LU with a USB-OTG adapter. (Ditto OPC-478 with a different sized plug?)

I am working on this now and have a prototype driver functional. The ID-51A Plus (aka Anniversary Edition) and the ID-5100 are indeed almost identical, although recent firmware for the 5100 gave that model extra memory.
